Challenge
The company’s sales force depended on its website to engage and educate prospects and customers, but the site’s poor organization made finding the right content nearly impossible.
Solution
A radically revised informational structure that aligned with prospects’ and customers’ actual interests and needs.
A re-positioning of subsidiary businesses to avoid confusion regarding overlapping services.
My Role
I identified the structural disconnects that were leading to poor findability, through a process of auditing content, assessing site traffic, and participating in user research and interviews.
In collaboration with UX, I put forth a revised informational structure based less on business structure and primarily on business offerings and user needs.

Challenge
The continuously expanding product lines for this business solutions provider had outgrown the company’s cluttered and confusing website.
Years of acquisition of software products, some residing on sub-sites, had led to brand confusion and overall structural disorder.
Solution
An elevation of the “solution” concept over product lines in the site’s informational structure.
A metadata model and tagging structure that promotes browsing by users’ specific interests and needs and renders the high volume of site content easily accessible.
My Role
I audited the current site, proposed the new tagging structure, and collaborated with UX to develop a flexible and clear informational structure.
I created all UX content and developed detailed editorial standards to guide content owners and preserve the design.

Challenge
The experience of the company’s HR and Legal departments on the employee intranet was confusing and outdated, with a department-centric organizational structure.
The project’s focus had so far been limited to top-level page redesign, and an aggressive launch date loomed.
Solution
An expedited process of identifying and engaging content owners for insights into business needs.
A revised and user-centric informational structure.
A newly designed set of page templates, with clearly delineated rules and standards for usage.
My Role
I met with all content owners in a whirlwind of back-to-back meetings during a two-week period.
I collaborated with UX designers to define the new templates.
I populated the templates with “starter content” for all pages, providing a model for content owners to evolve and finalize.
