I’ve spent most of my life putting words together for business and creative purposes. My earliest gigs included reporting for a small city newspaper in upstate New York and writing feature articles for a regional travel magazine. Then I joined the business world, where I planned and produced marketing, corporate, and technical communications campaigns. The employee experience has been a central and important focus of my work, but I’ve also successfully tackled external-facing projects, gaining particular expertise in (and love for) B2B sites.
While I enjoy and appreciate the power of words, I also understand that when it comes to content, less is more. Content can be effective only when it is sustainable. I approach a content challenge as not just a set of pages that need to be written, but as a system for content creation and management that must accommodate the design, the technology, and—most of all—the people involved.
Some personal details: I hail from Brooklyn, New York, but now live in central New Jersey with my husband and three cats who never, ever walk across my keyboard at the worst possible moment. And while I’m very much a digital girl, in one area—books—I still prefer print. Wondering what’s on my shelves? Kristina Halverson’s Content Strategy for the Web, of course, and Roy Peter Clark’s How to Write Short, but also Sally Rooney’s Normal People, Jesmyn Ward’s Sing, Unburied, Sing, and V.S. Naipaul’s Miguel Street. What are you reading these days? Let’s talk books, after we tackle your content challenge!
